Biography:

In Sasha's time at Stony Brook, they plan on studying particle physics, dark matter, and nuclear physics. In Sasha's free time, they like to dance, play piano, and read. Before becoming a Simons STEM Scholar, Sasha participated in the Virtual Rising STEM Scholars Program at Brookhaven National Laboratory and worked as a laboratory technician preparing samples for fiber analysis using Phase Contrast Microscopy and asbestos analysis using Polarized Light and Transmission Electron Microscopy.

Leading the Future:

"I want to promote the teaching and visibility of a diverse range of scientists, especially physicists, to show that physics research is meant for everyone."

Why did you become a Simons STEM Scholar?:

"As a physics major, I became a Simons STEM Scholar to help redefine what an influential scientist looks like, a mission shared by this program and its community."

What would you say to someone who is applying?:

"Think about why you are passionate about what you do, and carry that passion into everything you pursue in STEM, because it will motivate you when challenges arise."
